A weekend in the Anti-Atlas: the granaries and oases around Tafraout on Saturday, and the climb to the summit of Adad Medni on Sunday.

The practical bits

Length
2 days
Nights out
1 night

Group trip on 10–11 October 2026. Transport leaves from Agadir, Sidi Youssef at 07:30, and from Inezgane (CTM office) at 08:00.

Two days in the Anti-Atlas. The first is spent around Tafraout; the second climbs Adad Medni, past an old village and one of the rarest trees in the world.

Day 1 — Breakfast on the road, at your own expense. We visit the collective granaries of Ighir Ifrane, which people call the oldest banks in the world (entry 30 DH per person), then the traditional house at Oumesnat (40 DH, with tea, sweets and local music). Lunch is in the centre of Tafraout, at your own expense. In the afternoon we go on to the oasis of Ait Mansour for an easy 45-minute walk around it and a look at its natural pools, and to the Painted Rocks if time allows. Dinner is at the guesthouse, and we spend the night at the tourist lodge in Tafraout.

Day 2 — After breakfast we drive to the last village the coach can reach, and local transport takes us on to the last village of all. From there it is about three hours on foot to the summit. On the way we visit Timjicht, an old and isolated village, and stop at a dragon tree — ajgal, "the hanging tree" — one of the rarest trees there is. The summit is reached through passages unlike any other, and lunch is a picnic on top. We set off back at 19:00.

The price includes comfortable transport, the night at the tourist lodge, the local transport, lunch on the summit, dinner, a certified guide, and the people who run and look after the trip.

Not included: the two entry fees on Saturday (30 DH and 40 DH, paid on the spot), and Saturday’s breakfast and lunch.
