We set the camp up before you arrive and take it down after you leave. Tents, mattresses, blankets, chairs and hammocks are all provided.

An hour from Agadir, in the Ida Outanane mountains, we leave the car and walk twenty minutes to a camp beside the Ait Lahcen waterfalls. By the time you get there the tents are up. That is the point of this one: you come and live the evening, and we deal with everything else.

The afternoon is for the falls and the pools, which are good for swimming. Then the light goes, the fire is lit, and dinner is local food cooked the way it is cooked in this valley. After that there is nothing to do but sit round the fire, talk, and look up. There is no city glow out here, and the sky is full.

You sleep in a tent with a mattress, a blanket, a chair and a hammock, wake up to the sound of the water, and have the morning in the valley before the drive back. One night, or more if you want.

What makes it special

  • A tent ready and waiting: mattress, blanket, chair and hammock
  • The Ait Lahcen waterfalls and pools, a twenty-minute walk from the road
  • Dinner cooked locally, eaten by the fire
  • An evening round the fire and a sky full of stars
  • An hour from Agadir and a long way from the noise

What you can do here

  • Swimming in the falls and the pools
  • Exploring the valley and the waterfalls
  • A local, traditional meal
  • An evening round the fire
  • Sleeping out under the stars
  • The twenty-minute walk in to the camp

Everything here is included in the day if you want it, and nothing is compulsory. Tell us in advance what you are hoping for and we will plan around it.

When to come

Spring and autumn give the best nights, warm enough to sit out and cool enough to sleep. Summer works well for the water; bring a layer for the small hours all the same.

What to bring

  • Swimwear and a towel
  • Warm layers — mountain nights are cooler than the coast
  • Walking shoes for the path in
  • A head torch or phone light
  • Anything you need for the night, such as medication

Good to know

  • The camp is a twenty-minute walk from the road over uneven ground, so travel light.
  • Rocks around the falls are slippery. Take your time getting in and out of the water.
  • The fire is ours to manage. Please leave it to us, especially in dry weather.
